Boyds butchers of 86 Manor Road in Lancing will be re-opening under the new name of “Natural Meats”.

Nick Boyd recently retired after more than 20 years at the shop. Nick used to buy his meat from Natural Meats, so they are delighted to be taking over the shop and keeping this butchers open for the local community.

It is going to be really important for the local community in supporting the shop to ensure it is a viable proposition over the long-term.

Ed from Natural Meats said they would be pleased to offer a 10% discount to customers mentioning the Lancing Independent for our first week of opening.

We will be reopening the shop next Thursday 17th May after redecoration this week.

Keeping shops open in Lancing can only be good for the community.

Yep, I go by every day and they're hard at work with the redecoration. I hope it succeeds because so many smaller shops don't. Let's hope all the 'old' customers keep coming back.

Good luck!

Last Thursday 13 December 2012, this shop was the subject of an armed robbery. Two males made off with an undisclosed amount of money, I don't know the exact details but apparently the butcher was injured in the attack. He was in his shop on Friday however, so no major physical harm done.

The parade was swarming with police on the Thursday, I can honestly say that I've never seen so many police officers in Sompting before!!! :pol:

The odd thing about it all is that I can't find it on any of our local news websites. :dunno:

By now you may have seen the article in the Herald - and it turns out that the butcher I saw was not the injured party after all. :chin:

The injured man has left the company - there are a few stories going around regarding this but I don't want to break any laws by repeating them! :nono:

I should imagine all the "proper" butchers are seeing a great boom in custom at the moment with all the hoohar going on about the use of horsemeat. Lets hope that once people turn back to the tradtional butcher they stay going there. I can rememer in Lancing North Road there was 4 butcher shops - Now there is only one, and he is having to sell fruit and veg aswell !!!

Nothing beats a butcher shop bought burger cooked in the summer !!!! Yummy
