Having read the leaflet obtained from the Council offices regarding the proposed meeting, we have some rather important comments.
The new Council are fully aware of the public opinion on this local issue. This will be the 5th meeting for those residents of Lancing who have regularly attended and voted at previous Public and Parish meetings for option B. The last meeting was on the 29th May 2008, when only one resident voted for option A.
In the past, Lancing Parish Council have made it very clear that it does not have to act on any vote taken at a Parish meeting, and nowhere in the leaflet are we assured that the Council will honour the vote.
The leaflet also fails to inform residents that this will be the final opportunity for the Beach Green issue to be debated and voted on before a solution is resolved by Lancing Parish Council.

After only 5 months in office as Chairman of Lancing Parish Council, Sompting resident and representative of Widewater Ward, Tony Nicklen has resigned as Chairman of Lancing Parish Council.
Over recent meetings his position has come under a great deal of scrutiny by fellow councillors, some of whom have actually left meetings due to total lack of preparation / investigation into issues by what has been described by members of the public as "bumbling incompetence".
Councillor Nicklen gave the reason for his resignation at the full council meeting held on 7th October 2008 as failing health and personal commitments outside of the council which are not likely to improve in the foreseeable future.
At the same meeting, Councillor Anne Bridges was elected as chairman, with Councillor Fred Lewis as vice chairman, following the resignation of Councillor Pat Beresford vice chair at a previous meeting.
