As predicted by Lancing Independent, the eyesore building on Beach Green is up for sale again, just two months after planning permission was approved to transform the disused building into a ground floor cafe and water sports centre with 8-bed hostel and 3 flats above.
Was the recent purchase of this building and the media frenzy that followed just a smoke screen, to get the approval of Lancing residents so there would be no objection to the new plans submitted to Adur?
We were suspicious when the new owner of the building on Beach Green, Mr Alex Hole contacted Lancing Independent directly in April 2013, prior to the plans being heard at Adur District Council, asking if they would remove negative comments regarding the building, posted on the Lancing Independent Forum by one of its Forum members.
The building has been in its current state for the last five years when building work stopped. The new owners purchased the building in December 2011 for £290,000 and just two months after plans were passed, the building is back on the market, being advertised for £700,000 plus VAT, £840,000.
