I am married, have an 11-year-old daughter, and have lived in Lancing for over 40 years.
I set up this web site after my wife and I attended a Lancing Parish Council meeting at the beginning of March 2007.
We wanted to voice our views about the Councils preferred option of wanting to dig up the blocks buried under Beach Green and during the meeting we were appalled and disgusted in the way Council members treated us and other residents that were present.
I was also amazed that there were only 9 residents present at this meeting and after further investigation it soon became apparent that the Parish Council did very little to make the residents of Lancing aware of their intentions.
The Beach Green issue was first discussed by the Council in June 2004, and shortly after the Beach Green Action Group (BGAG) was formed to appose the Councils decision. Like most residents in Lancing, we were apathetic and assumed that BGAG would stop the council making this stupid decision.
I wanted to do something to make the Residents of Lancing more aware, I didn’t want to join forces with BGAG as I felt that pressure from another independent group would be more affective, and as I have a love for computers and the Internet, a web site was the obvious choice.
“Lancing Independent” was born on 19th March 2007, its main mission is to be a public forum for the community of Lancing, expose the rotten council we have now and to fight any issues that don’t take into account the views of Lancing Residents. Beach Green just happens to be one of those issues.
Many thanks,
Keith
